I've been thinking about how work will change over the next few years. AI agents are the catalyst.
Here's my view.
Work won't disappear. The nature of work will shift. Humans will focus on judgment. Agents will handle execution.
This division of labor makes sense. Humans are better at strategy. Agents are better at routine.
I'm already seeing this in my own work. I decide what matters. Agents handle the details.
The teams that win will be the ones that embrace this shift. They'll design workflows for agents, not just for humans.
I'm seeing companies struggle with this. They add agents on top of existing workflows. They don't redesign for automation.
The ones that win will redesign. They'll ask: what should an agent do? Then they'll assign that work.
If you're a leader, think about your workflow design. Are you building for humans? Or are you building for a human-agent partnership?
The future isn't replacement. It's augmentation.
